Presentation of Peñacaballera

The municipality of Peñacaballera (171 inhabitants in 2009; 620 ha) is located in the south of Salamanca Province, 80 km from Salamanca. The village is named for a rocky structure called peña caballera (Rider's Rock).

Symbols of Peñacaballera

The flag (images) and arms (image) of Peñacaballera are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 23 September 2004 by the Municipal Council, signed on 26 October 2004 by the Mayor, and published on 19 November 2004 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 224, p. 16,761 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Of quadrangular shape, like municipal flags. With three stripes perpendicular to the hoist, and the shield. The upper stripe red, the central stripe white and the lower stripe green. The coat of arms is placed in the center on the white stripe and at the midpoint of the hoist and the fly. The colors shall be as described in the proposal.
Coat of arms: Quartered, 1. and 4. Argent a chestnut leaf vert per bend sinister, 2. and 3. Vert a peña caballera rock argent, Escutcheon oval or a milestone sable a bordure gules. The shield surmonted with a Royal crown.
Symbolism of the elements: 1. The tree, 2. The rock, 3. The milestone [photo], 4. The crown. As prescribed in the proposal. Colors: 1. Vert, 2. Gules, 3. Sable, 4. Argent, 5. Or.
