A Royal Circular Order dated 8th March 1927 (Colección Legislativa del Ejército no. 120/1927) adopts the ensign for ships belonging to the Air Force – at the time still Servicio de Aeronáutica Militar – and used 1927-1931. Like the war ensign, bearing the Air Force emblem below the arms.

The Servicio de Aeronáutica Militar (Military Aeronautics Service) was created on 28th February 1913 and was part of the Army until it became in 1939 the Ejército del Aire or Air Force. A Royal Circular Order dated 16t April 1913 adopted the Regulation for the Military Aeronautics Service, including an appendix no. 3 with the Air Force emblem. The emblem is colloquially known as rokiski, due to the fact that Madrilenian engraver Luis Rokiski made the metal versions of the emblem to be used in uniforms, which he marked on the back with his surname.
