The Japanese shipping company Kyowa Kisen and its house flag boldly
proclaiming the name are represented at
jp~hf4a.html#kyowa, and as may be seen on this page, two subsidiaries
were given similar flags (at least the
drawings imply they exist in the cloth), one them being FSM Line of Pohnpei,
Micronesia: http://www.kyowa-line.co.jp/en/profile/profile4.html.
From the ‘About US / History’ section of kyowa-line.co.jp we learn that FSM Line
Ltd was founded in 1994 by Kyowa cooperating with Kyowa’s own Micronesian
service. Given Micronesia’s dependence on shipping, firms such as FSM play an
important role.
The flag is strongly influenced by Kyowa – in fact, the only difference is the company
name “FSM LINE” (in red on the central stripe of a horizontally divided flag
blue-white-blue).
