Presentation of Salon

The municipality of Salon-de-Provence (42,440 inhabitants in 2009; 7,030 ha) is located 50 km of Marseilles

Salon was the homr town of the famous astrologist Michel de Nostre-Dame, a.k.a. Nostradamus (1503-1566), whose Centuries astrologiques are still a best-seller and an inexhaustible source of money for modern prophets.
The Salon-de-Provence Air Force Base the Air Force School (École de l'Air) and the Military Air Force School (École Militaire de l'Air).

The Empéri Castle, the former residence of the archbishops of Arles, hosts the Empéri Museum. The Museum displays the Brunon collections, which were purchased in 1967 by the Army Museum. The collections include more than 10,000 items related to the French Army from Louis XIV to 1918. Several flags are said to be displayed in the Museum.
