Anne de Bretagne, François II's daughter, used successively three banners:
She had married Maximilian of Austria in 1490. Charles VIII, king of France, did not accept to see his Austrian enemy occupying the west of France. He brokes Anne's marriage and married her. Anne became queen of France, and married Louis XII after Charles VIII's death. The Royal Family of France used the ermine until 1544.
Claude de France, Louis XII and Anne de Bretagne's daughter used three banners:
The son of François I and Claude de
France was Dauphin and duke of
Brittany (1532-1536).
In 1532 the union of France with Brittany was definitive.
Henri, François' brother, became Dauphin in 1536 and was crowned duke of Brittany in 1537. He used François' banner, and was crowned king of France as Henri II in 1547.
The last duke of Brittany, François, crowned in 1544, used the first banner of his grand-mother Claude de France.
