Presentation of Desallais

R. Desallais, then General Agent of the A. Chazalon & Cie house in Dunkirk, was admitted in the Société de Géographie in 1907.
On 16 January 1932, the newspaper L'Ouest-Éclair presents the ship purchased in Sweden by "Messrs Desallais and de Malartic, shipowners in Paris". Serving, under the name of Express, the Stockholm-Åbo (Turku)-Helsingfors (Helsinki) line, the ship (40 m, 230 tons), propelled by a steam engine and two screws (600 hp), could cater 620 passengers with "all the modern comfort" (electric light, eight berths, one lounge, one lady's lounge, one smoking lounge, one restaurant and one café). The ship was expected to be operated on a scheduled line between Bordeaux and the posh resort of Royan. No other reference to the project has been found.
