Derby City Council is the local government authority for Derby, a city and unitary authority in the East Midlands region of England. Derby lies upon the banks of the River Derwent and is located in the south of the county of Derbyshire. In the 2011 census, the city had a population of 248,700 on 78.3 kmē.
By traditional definitions, Derby is the county town of Derbyshire, although Derbyshire's administrative centre has in recent years been Matlock. On 1 April 1997 Derby City Council became again a unitary authority (a status it
had held, as a county borough, up until 1974), with the rest of Derbyshire administered from Matlock.

The flag of Derby City Council is white the City council logo and can be seen here: http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/72173000/jpg/_72173080_72171314.jpg from http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-derbyshire-25650741
