Presentation of Ilion

The municipality of Ilion (formerly, Nea Liossia [Νέα Λιόσια]; 84,793 inhabitants in 2011; 945 ha) is a suburbs in the west-northwestern part of Athens.
The municipality was not changed with the 2011 local government reform.

Ilion was mainly made up of farmlands. Urban development replaced much of the farmlands between the 1950s and the 1990s and continued until the late-1990s, with little current development. Today, most of the municipality is urbanized or residential.
