Flag of Bjelovar

The symbols of Bjelovar were adopted in 1996. The original Decision was updated as Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Bjelovara i obilježavanju Dana Grada, adopted on 17 September 2009 by the Town Assembly and published on 18 September 2009 in the Town official gazette Službeni glasnik Grada Bjelovara, No. 10, probably without changing the description of the symbols.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Grada Bjelovara, adopted on 9 July 2009 and published on 10 July 2009 in Službeni glasnik Grada Bjelovara, No. 8. This is repeated in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Grada Bjelovara, adopted on 27 March 2013 and published on 28 MArch 2013 in Službeni glasnik Grada Bjelovara, No. 2 (text).

The flag is described in Article 6 of the Statutes as follows:

The flag of the Town of Bjelovar is white with the coat of arms of the Town of Bjelovar. The ratio of the flag's width to its length is 1:2.
The coat of arms is in the centre of the flag, taking up 2/5 of the flag. The use of the coat of arms and the flag are determined with a separate decision of the Town Assembly.

The coat of arms of the Town of Bjelovar is the historical coat of arms, in shape of a silver, white shield. On a green hill with three brown stumps stands a white rectangular fort with embattlements, loopholes and opened oval doors, in front of which, on the left it is standing a serežan holding a rifle. The fort is topped by a building with loopholes and windows, and with a red roof.

The coat of arms is depicted on a tax stamp released by the municipality in 1941 (photo).

The mountaineering club "Bilogora" (Hrvatsko planinarsko društvo "Bilogora" - HPD "Bilogora"; website) is based in Bjelovar.
The club, founded in 1924, is named for Bilogora (White Mountain), a hilly range stretching over 80 km, with its highest point at 309 m above sea level, therefore considered as the lowest but most widespread mountain in Croatia. The club owns the Kamenitovac mountain lodge, built in 1951; this is the starting point of the Bilogora Trail.

The flag of HPD "Bilogora" (photo, photo) is white with the club's emblem in the middle.
The emblem of HPD "Bilogora" includes the green hill charged with three stumps, which is the base of the municipal coat of arms of Bjelovar.
