The symbols of Šenkovec are prescribed by Statutory Decision Statutarna odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Šenkovec, adopted on 17 August 2007 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 5 December 2007 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Medimurske županije, No. 12.
The Decision was adopted on 17 August, however it was not published until the end of the year, waiting for the approval from the central authorities.
The symbols are described in the current Municipal Statutes Statut Općine Šenkovec, adopted on 3 November 2009 and published on 15 July 2009 in Službeni glasnik Medimurske županije, No. 21 (text).

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, red with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Argent a lion rampant gules holding with his front paws a wing sable".
The black wing is, probably, a reference to the Zrinski family, who ruled the region in the late medieval period.
