Presentation of Buje

Buje (Italian, Buie) is located in the north-western corner of inland Istria. Populationis 5,500, with about 3,500 in the town itself. The place is probably most famous in modern times for the electronic factory Digitron situated there.

Flag of Buje

The symbols of Buje are described in Articles 31-35 of the Town Statutes Statut Grada Buja, adopted on 31 October 2001 by the Town Assembly and published in the Town official gazette Službeni novine Grada Buja, No. 5.
This is repeated in Articles 36-39 of the today's Town Statutes Statut Grada Buja, adopted on 30 July 2009 by the Town Assembly and published in Službeni novine Grada Buja, No. 11.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, dark red with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms is described in the Town Statutes as "the historical coat of arms of Buje, in shape of a silver shield with a red cross". The shield is bordered white.

The flag is described in the Town Statutes as red with the coat of arms in the top part of the flag, so that the bottom point of the coat of arms matches the crosspoint of the diagonals. The flag is bordered with a golden edge. The bottom part of the flag is ornamented with rectangular indentations. The width to length ratio is 1:2.
One would assume that this describes the ceremonial flag. Unfortunately, the number and exact shape of the indentations is not mentioned.
