Ližnjan (Italian, Lisignano) is located in the eastern part of the southernmost tip of the Istrian peninsula, 50 km south of Pazin. Population is 2,000, some 700 in the town of the same name. The municipality has the Pula Airport on its territory.

The symbols of Ližnjan were adopted on 20 December 2004 by the Municipality Assembly, after the symbols had been approved by the Ministry (Glas Istre, 22 December 2004).
The symbols were designed by the MOD d.o.o. company, from Pula. According to the pulic records of the Ministry of Justice, there is a company named MOD d.o.o. in Pula, led by the photographer Danilo Dragosavac.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow, with the coat of arms, offest towards the canton.

The coat of arms is "Azure a broom branch or".
The Spanish broom (Spartium junceum L.), called locally brnistra or žuka, blossoms from April to July in the Ližnjan coast.

Before the adoption of its official symbols, the municipality used an emblem in a shield shape, quartered by a cross or, argent, gules, azure and vert. The shield is crowned with a yellow crown.
