Presentation of Oprtalj

Oprtalj is located in the central northern part of Istria, across the valley of river Mirna of the much more famous town of Motovun, about 20 km north-west of Pazin. It has just under 4,000 inhabitants, some 1,000 in the town of the same name.

The coat of arms is "Azure masoned walls argent issuant from the base with three closed doors proper and in chief a cross patty or".
This is the historical coat of arms, possibly dating from the 14th century.
