Presentation of Otok

Otok (not to be confused with the Town of Otok in Vukovar-Srijem County) is located east of Sinj. It has about 5,800 inhabitants with somewhat over 3,000 in the village of the same name.

Flag of Otok

The symbols of Otok (municipal website) do not conform with the rules set by the central authorities and have probably not been approved yet.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, white with the coat of arms in the middle. The flag is described as bordered with a golden ancient wattle, as seen on a plutey from the church in Udovičić.

Coat of arms of Otok

The coat of arms is "Gules a winged ox holding a book argent and in the base a disk or ensigned with five concentric rings and a cross in the middle". Under the shield is a blue ribbon inscribed with the name of the municipality.
The winged ox is the attribute of St. Luke, the patron saint of Otok. The disk at the base is the "celestial star", a stone plutey, the only remain from the old Croatian church in Gala near Otok. Today the circles are interpreted to stand for the five villages in the municipality and their unity in religion. The blue color of the ribbon is standing for river Cetina and its tributaries.
