Coat of arms of Tompojevci - Images by Željko Heimer, 24 June 2012
Tompojevci concurrently uses two designs:
- "Vert a base wavy maroon fimbriated azure overall a corn ear or
flanked in the chief with two oak leaves of the same";
- "Or a bend wavy azure overall a letter 'T' sable between a corn ear or
and a tree outlined vert and the base maroon".
Probably none of these designs hes been formally adopted. Both designs were recorded before 2007; the design with letter 'T' must be an older one, still used, however, on the municipal website, while the other design is used, among others, in TNTL, the journal of several municipalities in the region.
It seems that the designs were based on the coats of arms designed for Slovene municipalities by Valt Jurečič's workshop: the shield shape and outlines are just too strikingly similar. Even though, the design of the oak leaves is very much similar to Valt's artwork (see, for instance, the coat of arms of Dobje).
The announcement Obavijest, published on 24 February 1995 in Vinkovački list (scan) states that the Municipality Assembly initiated on 26 January 1995 a contest for the design of the coat of arms and flag. "The coat of arms should include the characteristics of the area in which the Municipality of Tompojeci lays and the flag should include the two basic colours - white and golden." A "modest award" of 1000 kunas was prescribed for the best design.
