Overview

Halimba is a village in Veszprém county, Hungary near Ajka town. Neighbouring settlements are: Ajka town, Kolontár, Szoc and Taliándörögd villages. The settlement has got 1141 inhabitants (Hungarians; 2001 census). The territory of the village was inhabited in the early days. Tombs of Celts and Avars were found teher. The first mention of the village is from 1349. The settlement has been known since the 1930-s because of its bauxite mining. [...] The reputation of Halimba was also increased by Dr. Miklós Szalai, the well-known dean, who besides his church and caritative activities, elaborated the prescription for several blends of herbal teas, these teas can be bought under the trade name : Halimbárium.
