PETA: Pembela Tanah Air / Patriotic Defense Volunteer Force
Miles Li, 5 November 2014
This is a flag of PETA (Pembela Tanah
Air / Patriotic Defence Volunteer Force) established in 1943 under Japanese
Army's support to fight against Netherlands. The Islamic symbols and green
colour are placed on Japanese sun-rising flag. I have not seen any other flag
representing Islam and Shintoism together.
Nozomi Kariyasu, 18 February 2005
This image of the colour of Indonesia's WWII pro-Japanese Patriotic Volunteer
Force (PETA) has been drawn based on this photo link:
http://www.axishistory.com/fileadmin/user_upload/i/indonesian-volunteers.jpg.
Note the reverse of the flag is shown on this image, in accordance with the
Japanese (and Islamic) traditions. The flag is drawn to conform with the
official dimensions of the Imperial Japanese Army infantry colours.
