Description

Local Council Hura is situated in the north Negev region, 13 km NE to Be'er Sheva. Founded in 1989, part of the nowadays dissolved Regional Council Shoket between 1991-1997 and an independent Local Council from 1996, managed by the Ministry of the Interior until first elections take place. Pop. 7,000, all Bedouins. A municipal emblem was proposed in 1997 but never officially published, though it is used by the Local Council. I have received reports that the flag is white with the emblem in an unknown colour. On the emblem I can tell a sun, ear of wheat and tents.

In my visit in Hura, I found out that the flag is indeed white and charged with the emblem in natural colors.

Hura was established in February 1991 (in other source 1989) in order to give a residential solution for settled Bedouins in the Negev. It was part of the nowadays dissolved Regional Council Shoket and seperated from it and become a Local Council in 1996. First elections took place in 2000.
