Ma'atz (initials for Makhleket Avodot Tziburiot or
Public Works Department) is the governmental body in charge of
building and maintainance of intercity roads, bridges,
interchanges etc. Its unofficial flag is a logo on white and is
seen very frequently while driving in Israel.
Dov Gutterman, 6 September 2001
In 2003 Ma'atz was replaced by HaHevra Haleumit LeDrakhim
BeYisrael (Israel National Roads Company), and Ma'atz sumbols
became obsolete as a new emblem (which retain Ma'atz initials)
was adopted as seen at <www.pwd.co.il>.
