Description

Album des Pavillons 2000 shows it as the naval ensign, ratio 2:3, defaced in the lower fly with a golden emblem, consisting of a sword and branch crossed in saltire and above them a [fig] leaf. This is the emblem of the IDF rank called Aluf in Hebrew, which is equivalent to Major General and Rear Admiral in Western tradition (i.e. two-star general). As the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy holds Aluf rank himself, this flag is presumably used as distinguishing flag when another Aluf is present on a navy vessel. Maybe the caption in Album des Pavillons 2000 should say Rear-Admiral and Major General.

My source for this flag is an article by Zvi Ruder in Flagmaster no. 059.

Car Pennant

[Car Pennant, Rear Admiral (Israel)] 2:3

Album des Pavillons 2000 shows a flag titled Rear-Admiral (car flag) as a triangular blue pennant, ratio 2:3, with a white emblem, consisting of an upright sword with olive branch and slant anchor. If I am not mistaken, there are two other General ranks in IDF, a lower one and a higher one. While I could imagine that the lower one may not have a flag authorized, I wonder what about the higher one. I guess that the one holding it would probably be the Chief of the General Staff, so he may be using his flag for the purpose, but then it is not unimaginable that there are at some time several persons holding the rank, especially in turmoils of wartime.

Another flag that I have never seen. Note the emblem is the same as the commander of the navy flag, so I assume that if it is exists then it is his car flag.
