The state is listed by Soszynski as a "thikana" (vassal) entity, but other sources recognize it as a fully fledged state, with gun salutes even.

"The State of Shahpura uses a flag on the model of the 'Panchranga' of the Rajputs. Its five horizontal bands are ( from the top): green, dark blue, yellow, red and white".

Some months ago I was in vacation in India and I found several flags. I was in a hotel called Shahpura State, owned by the Shahpura maharajah, and full of photos, arms, flags and antiquities. The flag in the photos is not the five stripe flag (shown above), but a simple bicolor of red over green with the arms. This flag and the arms are, I believe, not featured in McMeekin's nor Filcher's books.

I was in Jaipur in 2004 and stayed in the Hotel "Shapura House" in the west of the pink city. In that hotel there were lances with yellow and green bicolours.

It is a horizontally divided yellow over green swallow tail pennant. Source: I spotted this pennant, together with other armoury in Shahpura House in Jaipur in August 2004. Shahpura House, today being a hotel, formerly was the city residence of the Princes of Shahpura.

I was also in this hotel when two years ago I was in India for a month. In one of the many historical photos in a saloon, there's one with the flag of the principality that has colors red and green. In this moment I don't have available the photo that I take of the photo and from memory I don't remember if is green over red or red over green. A great image of the arms can be see in the hotel's letterhead, and appears in many hotel objects, and in publicity. In fact many hotels (and even restaurants) are directed by the old aristocracy. Shahpura is from the high nobility, but many others came from the small nobility, whose states were mediatized, and have also flags and arms, frequently hoisted or pictured in their house or establishment.

One of the main minor states with a flag is Mandawa, in Shekawati region. The fortress or castle of the princes gives its name to a hotel (Mandawa Castle) but a modern edifice is in construction inside the castle, to be a very modern hotel. In the castle are hoisted many princely flags, that are red over white or white over red.
