Overview

The American Police Community or Ameripol (Comunidad de Policías de América or Ameripol) is a recently created continental police organization with the mission of fighting drugs".

AMERIPOL was established during the III Encuentro de Directores, Comandantes y Jefes de Policías de Latinoamérica y El Caribe (Third Summit of Latin American Directors, Commanders and Chiefs of Police) held in Bogota from November 12 to 15, 2007.

Its organizational chart is as follows:
- Consejo de Directores, Comandantes, Jefes y Comisionados de los cuerpos de Policía y/o instituciones homólogas de América (Council of Directors)
- Presidencia (Presidency)
- Secretaría Ejecutiva (Executive Secretariat). The Secretaría Ejecutiva (Executive Secretariat) was inaugurated on April 17, 2008 and it's located in Bogotá, Colombia
- Unidades de Coordinación (Coordination Units)
- Unidades Nacionales (National Units)
