Overview

The flag of Isola Piana (Piana Island) is white with red cross, bearing in the canton the arms of the Marchesi of Villamarina, owners of the island after 1774. The flag was adopted probably in 1774, even if some authors believe that it already existed from 1711 (1711 is surely the date of adoption of the arms by the Marchises)
The exact pattern of 1774 is not know, being suposed that it is either:
1) Is similar to the current one (arms in XVIII century style)
2) red background, blue cross, arms in canton in XVIII century style
3) red background, white cross, arms in canton in XVIII century style

The island is located in south-west Sardinia near the Island of San Pietro or Carloforte. There is another island with this name at Sassari province.
