Overview

The flag of Province of Trento is not Red-White-Red as reported, but Violet (or wine-red or purple)-White-Violet as appears on CISV site. It derives from the banner of the National Guard of the ancient independent bisphoric (1801).
Here is a photo from the website of the province which allow to compare the color of Trento flag with the red of Italian tricolor.

Flags in Use

Vertical Flag

image by Karl Palfrader, 11 August 2001

I send you a picture which shows three flags hanging from the wall of Castel Beseno (Trento Province). The left is South Tyrol [Bolzano Province - ed.], in the middle Trentino [Trento Province - ed.] and the right one the Austrian Tyrol.
Karl Palfrader, 11 August 2001

3:1 and 5:1 Flags

I visited the beautiful town of Riva del Garda, situated at the top northern point of the lake and belongs to Trento Province (Trentino-Alto Adige). No local or regional flags but the provincial flag in 3:1 ratio above the fort and 5:1 ratio in the main square together with Italy and EU flags at the same proportions. Photos taken by Eli Gutterman & Dov Gutterman.
Dov Gutterman, 17 October 2004
