The town emblem was adopted on Sep 2nd 2005 by Notice No 36 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a green, a red and a blue three color town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized hiragana とうTo of Tohoku. The green color stands for the ground, the center red circle for a harmony, a monument of center Japan and an abundant of the culture,the blue color for the contact point of Lake Ogawara with Pacific Ocean, the northeastern location , hopes and a saltation.
