The city emblem was adopted Feb 11th 2005 by Notice No 1
but there is no flag law.
The white flag has a green, a blue and an orange three color city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a stylized hiragana つ Tsu of Tsugaru
and depicts rice stalks grown in abundance and beautiful waves of Japan Sea.
The number of the ellipse symbolizes the former five town and villages.
It represents a peaceful development of the city in harmony with the nature.
