The town emblem was adopted in Oct 1956 but there is no flag law. The maroon flag has a yellow town emblem in the center and the kanji name in white horizontally at the bottom. The town emblem is a stylized hiragana す Su of Sumita in a form of a combination of a pigeon and the sun. It represents a surge and a development of risen sun of the peace industrial town.

The letters look much bolder than in the attached image.
Tomislav Todorović, 20 October 2014

I noticed bolder letters on the flag, but according to the data received from Mr. Kariyasu there is no flag law. Therefore I think it is optional thickness of the letters from the manufacturer. I'd leave it like that I sent. Mr. Kariyasu?

Sumita Town General Affairs section says they use a maroon flag with a yellow town emblem in the center without the name at the bottom at the town hall building. So please remove the kanji name in white from your image.

Thanks to Mr. Kariyasu here are corrected flags.
