The city emblem was adopted on June 8th 1928 by the Prefecture Notice No. 25 but there is no flag law.
It is a green flag charged with white city emblem in the center. The flag proportion is 2:3.
The city emblem is composed of a stylized kanji 田 TA, Yadome (arrow) and the mark. The Yadome is another
name of the former Akita clan, lord of the Sakata’s castle.

The flag of the former town of Kawabe was maroon with mark. The town is now,
from 2005, part of the city of Akita.
