The town emblem was adopted on Mar 27th 2006 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a blue, a green and an orange three color town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized katakana ハ Ha of Happo. The blue color stands for Japan Sea, the green color for a row of Shirakami Mountains and the orange color for bright and vigorous future. It represents an image of the town which lives together with the historic culture to seek for a comfortable town and makes a great leap forward.
