The city emblem was adopted on Oct 17th 1963 by Notice No 77 but there is no flag law. The maroon flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized katakana ナ Na of Nanyo. It represents a solidarity and a reconciliation of the citizen and an unlimited development of the city. Nanyo City says they use only maroon flag at the hall.
