The city emblem was adopted on Apr 26th 1927 by Notice No 34 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a black city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized old style kanji 會 Ai of Aizuwakamatsu which had been used as a war banner of Aizu Domain and a shoulder mark at the Boshin Civil War. It represents citys history and the tradition and the harmony of the citizen.
