They say a purple flag without city name at the bottom is an official city flag. They use the flag at the city hall building today.  The city emblem was adopted on Jun 2nd 1956 but there is no flag law. The purple flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 立林 Tatebayashi.
