The Flag

Komae city adopted its emblem on 1 October 1970 by Notice No. 35, flag proportion: 2:3, colour of field: dark violet, colour of emblem: white diameter of emblem: 3/5 flag height, a stylized hiragana Ko こ.
Nozomi Kariyasu, 10 March 2006

The emblem is a stylised hiragana ko こ. The central section depicts the River Tama, and the emblem as a whole expresses Komae in the newly developing metropolitan area.
Jonathan Dixon, 4 July 2006
