The city emblem was adopted on Jun 3rd 2006 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a blue and a green two color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 五 Go of Gosen in a form of a tulip flower. The two circles symbolizes an image of the people of merged a city and a town who take each other hands and make a leap forward to the future, the upper part does three mountains and the lower part does Agano River,Hayade River. The blue color stands for a fresh stream and the green color for the nature.

The flag of the former town of Muramatsu was green with mark. The town is now, from 2006, part of the city of Gosen.
