The city emblem was adopted on Apr 15th 1957 by Notice No 25 but there is no flag law. The green flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized katakana ウ U of Uozu. The circle symbolizes a concord and a solidarity of the citizen, the cap of wave does a good port of Japan Sea. The triangle represents an exponential development of the city and three strange spectacles in the city namely mirages, burried forest and firefly squids. There is a variant of white flag with green city emblem.
