The city emblem was adopted on Mar 20th 2006 by Regulation No1. There is no
flag law. The white flag has green and orange city emblem in the center. The
city emblem is composed of S of Sakai and an image of Japan Sea. The green
stands for rich nature of Sakai City and Sakai Plain and orange color for the
sun shining Japan Sea. As a whole the emblem symbolizes city’s dynamism and
vigor towards tomorrow’s passion.

The flag of the former town of Maruoka was green with mark. The town is now,
from 2006, part of the city of Sakai.
