The city emblem was adopted on Jul 27th 2003 but there is no flag law. The white flag has three kinds of green shades city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized M of Mizuho and rice stalks. The green color symbolizes an abandunt nature and a youthfulness, the two rice stalks does the merger of the former  two towns. As a whole, it represents a future image of the city developing as a comfortable, vigorous and creative city.
