The city emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 1972 and the flag was adopted on Jan 1st 1990. The yellow flag has a blue city emblem finbriated in white in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana こ Ko of Kosai which symbolizes Hamanako Lake with a cap of wave. As a whole it represents city’s happy development. The flag proportion is 9:13.5.
