The city emblem was adopted on Mar 19th 2006 but there is no flag law. The white flag has its three color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized katakana マ Ma of Makinohara which represents Suruga Bay, Makinohara Plateau and green tea leaves. As a whole it symbolizes the city’s image which is developing to aim for the future together with sea, sky and nature.
