Susono city adopted its emblem on 18 September 1957 by Notice No. 55; adoption date of flag: 10 November 1980 by Notice No 53 (links in Japanese)

The five katakana su form a star with circle in the middle. Each point of the star forms the shape of Mt Fuji. The emblem shows the 5 former villages tightly bonded, prospering in harmony (represented by the central circle).
