The city emblem was adopted on Jun 1st 1943 and the flag was adopted on Mar 31st 1990. The white flag has a red city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a combination of Hinomaru日の丸 and a curb 井桁 inside and a cherry blossom most popular flower of spring 春 outside. The three symbols representing the city’s kanji name were selected. The curb represents the merged towns and villages hold hands for eternity and the citizen’s concord. The flag proportion is 7:10.
Nozomi Kariyasu, 14 May 2014
