The city emblem was adopted on Jan 12th 1973 by Notice No 2 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a green city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana は Ha of Hannan in a form of water rings. The two circles symbolize a harmony and a peace. It represents an image of the city which makes a leap forward in the future.
