The town emblem was adopted on Nov 3rd 1951 by Notice No 18 and the flag was adopted on Nov 3rd 1981 by Notice No 49. The green flag has a white town emblem in the center. The town emblem is nine stylized katakana マ Ma in a form of a flower petal and ten stylized katakana リ Ri in a form of a stamen. As a whole, it represents a sunflower growing gallantly under summer strong sun and an image of the town making a leap forward.
