The city emblem was adopted on Aug 10th 1940 and the flag was adopted on Apr 4th 1964 by Notice No 14. The blue flag has a yellow and a white two color city emblem towards upper hoist. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 吹田 Suita in a form of a pigeon as a symbol of a peace. The outer circle symbolizes flower petals. It represents a wish for a beautiful development of the city. The blue color stands for an intellectual ideal, the yellow for a bright hope and a development for the future and the white color for a clean city administration. The flag proportion is 3:4.85.
