The city emblem was adopted on Dec 17th 1901 by Notice No 41 and the flag was
adopted on May 3rd 1969 by Notice No 40. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 姫
Hime of Himeji however they don't use the city emblem for the flag. The green
flag has a white flag charge in the center. The flag charge is a stylized
katakana ヒ Hi of Himeji in a form of a flying egret which symbolizes a hope. The
flag proportion is 7:10.
