The city emblem was adopted on Sep 18th 1950 by Notice No 26 and the flag was adopted on May 17th 1970 by Notice No 15. The four blue and three white diagonal wavy striped flag has a purple city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 川 Gawa of kakoGawa. It represents an image of the city which is developing into cross-straits. The flag proportion is 2:3.
