The town emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 1st 2004 by Notice No 1. The white flag has a green, a red two color town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized AKIOTA. It represents a wish for the town people to live well by the sun rising from Chugoku Mountains. The letter O symbolizes the morning sun. The flag proportion is 7:10.
