The city emblem was adopted on May 19th 1896 by the Notice No 27 but there is no flag law.
The green flag charged with white city emblem. The flag proportion are 2:3.
The city emblem was made to be inspired by the former Aki Clan lord’s flag
design of three horizontal stripes and modified to wavy style. It represents river flow
and the water city Hiroshima.

The white flag has a blue and a white two color symbol mark in the center.
The ward symbol mark is a stylized katakana ア A of Aki in a form
of a flying bird and the land form.
It represents the ward’s surge.

The point of a pen symbolizes the ward people who grows the culture and
the education and an image of a man who holds and raises hands
does the ward people’s reconciliation and collaboration.
The circle represents an eternal peace and happiness.

The white flag has a purple ward symbol mark in the center.
The symbol mark is a stylized kanji 文 Bun of Bunka = culture
in a form of a water bird in Yawata River and also
a stylized hiragana さ Sa of Saeki.
The center curved line represents the clear stream of Yawata River
and the ward which makes a leap forward.
It was adopted in Feb 1986.
