The city emblem was adopted on Oct 22nd 2003 by Notice No 153 but there is no flag law.
The white flag has a blue, a green and a white three color city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a stylized hiragana し Shu of Shunan.
The four し symbolize the merger of two cities and two towns.
It represents an image of the citizen who jumps into the future of the city from the sea and the mountain.
