The town emblem was adopted on Feb 1st 1960 but there is no flag law. The maroon flag has a white town emblem in the center and the kanji name in white horizontally at the bottom. The town emblem is a stylized kanji 九 Kokono of Kokonoe. The circle symbolizes a concord of the town and the bold face of the letter 九 does a firm base of the town.
